Heavy duty pallet rack (also known as beam racking) is one of the most widely used types of racks. Its main structure consists of two major components: upright frames and beams. Each level supports a load capacity ranging from 800 to 4000 kg, with adjustable shelf heights in increments of 50 or 75 mm. Heavy duty pallet rack primarily functions as a storage unit-based racking system designed for pallets or similar containers. Specifications are typically determined by the dimensions of the pallets or storage containers used. This system finds extensive application in manufacturing facilities, logistics centers, and similar settings.

In addition to upright frames and beams, pallet racking systems often incorporate auxiliary components during practical use to enhance functionality and safety. These include steel panel, wire mesh decking, pallet stopper, column guard, barrier and so on.

Steel panels serve as the primary load-bearing surface for heavy-duty pallet racking systems. Manufactured from cold-rolled steel sheets through stamping processes, they typically incorporate reinforcing ribs to enhance bending stiffness, with a single-layer load capacity reaching up to 4000 kgs. Their flat surface design facilitates palletized storage and retrieval operations while offering wear-resistant and anti-slip properties. This effectively prevents cargo displacement during handling, making them the core shelf type for high-load storage environments.

Wire mesh decking is constructed by welding high-strength metal wire mesh into a grid structure. Its primary functions include ventilation, preventing the fall of small loose items, and meeting fire code requirements for air permeability in storage spaces. It is suitable for scenarios requiring air circulation or the storage of small items, such as chemical raw materials, food packaging, and electronic components. Its light transmission also facilitates manual visual inventory checks.

Pallet stoppers are typically manufactured from Q235B cold-rolled steel and mounted on the rear side of upright columns. Their height aligns with the rear edge of pallets and is generally designed to be adjustable. Functioning as a longitudinal positioning device, they automatically guide the rear edge of pallets to align and dock during forklift storage operations. This ensures all pallets are neatly aligned at the front of the racking, significantly enhancing storage and retrieval efficiency. Simultaneously, it effectively prevents goods from slipping backward due to inertia or vibration, making it one of the most effective safety devices for preventing high-altitude cargo falls.

Column guards are fixed to the base of rack uprights, constructed from 3.0mm thick cold-rolled steel(steel portector) or HDPE material(plastic protector) in a U-shaped or L-shaped configuration. They absorb forklift collision energy and deflect impact direction, preventing deformation or fracture at the base of the upright. Their installation significantly extends rack service life and is recommended as standard protective equipment in warehouse safety regulations.

Barriers are installed at both ends of racking aisles or around walls and columns, categorized into rigid metal tubular guardrails and flexible polymer elastic guardrails. The former features a sturdy structure, while the latter possesses energy-absorbing cushioning properties. These barriers effectively prevent accidental forklift collisions, mitigate chain-reaction collapses, delineate operational zones, and enhance safety by separating pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
