Drive Through Pallet Racking System is also known as drive in racking. It is suitable for storing large quantities of goods of uniform dimensions. They offer high space utilisation and low cost. These racks require no dedicated aisles for trolleys or forklifts. During stocking, forklifts operate from the innermost to the outermost positions; retrieval follows the opposite sequence, adhering to the last-in, first-out / first-in, first-out principle. Drive through racking systems achieve high-density storage and maximise spatial efficiency.
The drive through pallet racking system employs a series of parallel racking bays equipped with reinforced steel rails (guide rails) to guide forklifts within the structure. Pallets are stored on horizontal beams within the bay sections, allowing forklifts to drive directly into the bay sections for pallet retrieval and placement-eliminating the need for dedicated aisles between each set of racks. When operating in First-In-First-Out (FIFO) mode, pallets are loaded at the inlet end and unloaded at the outlet end; in First-In-Last-Out (FILO) mode, pallets are loaded and unloaded from the same end.
